What is APDR?
APDR is a Peruvian non-profit civil association that brings together occupational safety and health technicians and professionals. It was established in September 2014 and is headquartered in the Pueblo Libre district of Lima.
It is a professional association of a technical nature, not a professional body: it does not grant registration or legal authorization to practice prevention in Peru, and membership does not equate to official certification. Its role is that of a trade association and sectoral representative body.
Purpose and scope of action
The purpose of APDR is to unite and represent occupational safety and health technicians and professionals in Peru, promote the dissemination of technical knowledge among its members, and organize training activities and industry meetings. Its scope of action is Peru, with a regional reach through its representation before Latin American organizations in the sector.
Functions and main lines of work
APDR’s activity is organized along several lines.
- Representation before ALASEHT. APDR represents Peru before the Latin American Association of Occupational Safety and Health, a regional network of national associations in the sector.
- The Preventionist Magazine. This magazine, specializing in occupational safety and health, is published by APDR itself as the first free publication in the sector aimed at all business sectors in Peru, and not just a specific productive sector.
- Events and training. It organizes congresses, conferences and training activities aimed at its members and the entire Peruvian prevention community.
Contribution to safety and health at work
APDR’s contribution is that of a professional association of a technical nature: it brings together those who practice occupational safety and health in Peru, disseminates specialized knowledge through its journal and events, and provides these professionals with a means of collective representation before regional organizations such as ALASEHT. Peru has its own legal framework for occupational safety and health, Law 29783 on Occupational Safety and Health , within which the occupational safety and health professionals represented by APDR operate; APDR does not dictate or enforce this legislation, which is the responsibility of the competent Peruvian authorities.
Relationship with the ORP International Foundation
APDR is listed on the institutional advisory committee of the ORP International Foundation as a Peruvian civil association of occupational safety and health technicians and professionals. Its role on the committee complements its existing regional role: it represents Peru before the Latin American Association for Occupational Safety and Health, thus connecting two distinct professional representation networks.

For occupational safety and health technicians and professionals in Peru, APDR offers a channel for professional representation, access to the magazine El Prevencionista, and participation in its events and training sessions. It is important to distinguish this voluntary, technical membership from any legal authorization to practice occupational safety and health in Peru, which depends on the Peruvian legal framework and not on APDR affiliation.
The representation before ALASEHT also has a networking value: it places APDR and its members within a set of Latin American national associations for occupational safety and health, which facilitates the comparison of practices and technical criteria between countries in the region with different regulatory frameworks.
